BROCKX Enclosure – ENG

With the increasing installation of heat pumps and air conditioning systems, there is a growing visibility of exterior installations on facades, accompanied by noise in the immediate living environment. This is often perceived as disruptive. Van Cappellen Sound Solutions has developed the Brockx enclosure to enhance the visual aspect, reduce sound, and thereby elevate the residential comfort.

Our expertise and experience in sound and vibration control gained in the maritime industry have been applied to the development of the Brockx. Key principles in the design included:

– Compact and elegant form
– Robust and sturdy
– Efficient air intake and exhaust
– Universal applicability
– Ease of installation
– Noise reduction
– Long lifespan

Highlights of the Brockx Enclosure

Noise Reduction
In addition to visual enhancement, the standard enclosure provides a reduction of approximately 3 dB*. To achieve higher reduction, an easy-to-apply insulation kit can be purchased. When combined with this sound insulation, the reduction of airborne noise can reach up to 6 dB*. For reference, a reduction of 3 dB corresponds to a halving of the sound.

* Maximum value, depending on location and placement

Long Lifespan
The enclosure is finished with a durable coating available in white (RAL9003), black (RAL9005), or dark gray (RAL7016) colors. The panels are specially designed for outdoor applications, ensuring they do not rust. The coating is weather- and water-resistant, and it has UV resistance to prevent discoloration.

Installation
The enclosure is easy and quick to install (approximately 30 minutes). It consists of a series of foldable aluminum composite panels that are connected to each other using self-drilling screws. This construction method results in a robust and sturdy enclosure. The panels feature a removable conduit for cable trays and/or pipes. If necessary, openings can be created using simple hand tools.
By attaching it to the facade or a foundation using the provided mounting kit, secure anchoring is ensured.

Air Intake and Exhaust
Proper air intake and exhaust for the outdoor unit are crucial to prevent malfunctions and ensure efficiency. The unique placement of openings in the enclosure provides optimal airflow while simultaneously reducing noise. The included anti-recirculation baffle is essential in this regard. This baffle significantly prevents outgoing air from being drawn back into the intake side. Studies and practical experiences have demonstrated that our unique ventilation approach has no adverse effects on the outdoor unit.

Anti-Recirculation Baffle
The Brockx comes standard with an anti-recirculation baffle. Proper placement of this baffle is necessary to maintain the efficiency of your system and even prevent malfunctions in the heat pump or air conditioning outdoor unit. The baffle is easily attached to the unit using adhesive Velcro.

Advise

We can provide you with advice in the field of sound requirements, placement, and predicting sound levels (using the WPAC method from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations). Accurate data and information about the sound sources are crucial in this regard.

Visual inspections and sound measurements are also within our capabilities.

Critical in this regard is accurate information and data about the sound sources, including:

1. Dimensions of the heat pump or air conditioning outdoor unit.
2. Distance from the heat pump or air conditioning outdoor unit to facades, windows, and/or doors on the respective and adjacent properties.
3. Location of the outdoor unit on the property or roof, and a description of the underlying surface.
4. Sound power at maximum capacity (manufacturer’s information).
